What is DECA?
DECA is a business club established to prepare students to become emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Students with an interest in business would be able to get real-world experience through participating in volunteering, fundraising, seminars, and competitions throughout the year. DECA will give students a better understanding of the professional business world far beyond anything they could learn in the classroom.
What does being a DECA member involve?
The main events we attend are a Fall Conference in October, District Competition in November and State Competition in February. The students meet other students with an interest in business from around the state and possibly the U.S. The students dress in professional business attire and compete in the areas of a written test, role play, or written project. Beyond the competitive aspect, the students will also gain valuable leadership and networking skills. Business is a prominent career field in today’s world and DECA will provide students with outside world experience similar to that of FFA for agriculture students. |
